For some people there is a tradition to go around the table on Thanksgiving and say what they are thankful for. For others there is a moment of relief to be able to have a meal while others are not able. There are some that dread being home for Thanksgiving for a variety of reasons and others that prefer a ‘Friendsgiving.’ This year is different - I hope.

I hope that this year is different because we are making the difficult choice to keep ourselves, our friends, and our families safe. That means less physical face time with others and more FaceTime or Zoom time. I know that Craig and I had to make an impossibly difficult decision to cancel our much anticipated plans of gathering with dear friends this Thanksgiving. It is my hope that many will do this so that we can be even more thankful next year when we are able to see each other (hopefully) face to face without fear of a virus getting in our way.

I hope that you have a moment tomorrow to think about what you are thankful for.

I am thankful for you - seriously - for each and everyone of you reading this.

I am thankful for communal wisdom of our Advisory Council and Church Council.

I am thankful for our bishop and other church leaders.

I am thankful for my mother and father - for my husband - and all my family.

I am thankful.

What are some things that you are thankful for this Thanksgiving?

May you be blessed and know the love of God this season.
